Optimize for non-Webflow sites

Integrate with Google Ads

Updated

Sync ad data to personalize experiences and track impact.

Integrating helps you carry the momentum from the ad click into your site experience. You can tailor content based on campaign, ad group, or keyword — reinforcing what got the visitor to click in the first place — and use ad-level insights to understand behavior and performance. Once integrated, build audiences, personalize variations, and filter optimization results.

Connect your Google Ads account

Open your Optimize site in Webflow, then:

  1. Click Account settings in the Navigation panel
  2. Go to Integrations > Google Ads
  3. Click Sign in to Google Ads
  4. Sign in using the account that owns the ad assets (often a client account)
  5. Click Allow when prompted
  6. Back in Optimize, select the Google Ads account you want to connect
  7. Click Save

After setup, Optimize syncs with Google Ads every hour to pull in new ad data — so your targeting stays fresh and up to date.

How the integration works

Optimize appends tracking parameters to the Final URL suffix in Google Ads. When someone clicks an ad, those parameters let Optimize map the visit back to specific ad attributes, such as keyword or campaign.

Good to know

Optimize only captures Google Ads data for clicks that happen after the integration is connected.

Tracking parameter mapping:

  • igaag — ad group
  • igacm — campaign
  • igant — network
  • igaat — ad type
  • igakw — keyword
  • igacr — creative
  • igamt — match type

Troubleshoot sign-in issues

If you encounter a login loop or error while trying to sign in to Google Ads, do each suggestion in order and try again:

  • Decline any pending manager linking requests from Optimize (or Intellimize) in your Google Ads manager list
  • Make sure your account has space for a new Ads manager — Google sets a limit
  • Wait a minute or two before signing in again if you've recently signed out
  • If the issue persists, submit a support ticket

Note

For specific instructions in Google Ads, refer to their docs: Linking and unlinking errors and Google Ads Help Center.

Limit access to a single Google Ads account

When you sign in, Google authorizes access to all Google Ads accounts tied to your login. However, Optimize only syncs data from the account you explicitly select. If you want to limit access, create a new Google login that only has access to the account you want to integrate with, and use that login when signing in.

Disconnect your Google Ads account

Disconnecting signs you out of your Google account and disables Google Ads targeting and reporting. You can reconnect with a different account if needed.

Open your Optimize site in Webflow, then:

  1. Click Account settings in the Navigation panel
  2. Go to Integrations > Google Ads
  3. Click the Options icon
  4. Click Edit
  5. Click Disconnect
