Learn how to launch, pause, relaunch, or archive variations.
Important
In test optimizations, all variations share the same status — you launch, stop, or relaunch the entire optimization, not individual variations. Stopping an optimization pauses all of its variations.
Variations from AI Optimize and personalize optimizations can exist in several status states depending on how you want to use them. The available status options are context-sensitive. For example, paused variations can be “Run” or “Archive,” while archived variations offer “Unarchive.”
Variation status types
- Draft — new variation that hasn’t been launched yet
- Live — active variation that’s live and being shown to eligible visitors
- Paused — temporarily disabled variation that’s not in circulation
- Archived — variation that’s removed from your dashboard view
How to launch a draft variation
Launching a variation makes it live on your site for visitors to see.
Open your Optimize site in Webflow, then:
- Click Optimizations in the Navigation panel
- Click the optimization
- Click Launch by a draft to launch an individual variation
- Click Launch all to launch all draft variations at once
How to pause a live variation
When you pause a variation, it's no longer live on your site. Pause variations to make edits or take them out of circulation.
Open your Optimize site in Webflow, then:
- Click Optimizations in the Navigation panel
- Click the optimization
- Hover over the variation and click the Options icon > Pause
How to relaunch a paused variation
If you've paused a variation to make edits and are ready for it to go live again, you can relaunch it.
Open your Optimize site in Webflow, then:
- Click Optimizations in the Navigation panel
- Click the optimization
- Click Status > Paused to show paused variations
- Hover over the paused variation and click the Options icon > Re-launch
How to archive a paused variation
If a paused variation has served its purpose and you don't plan to run it again, you can archive it.
Open your Optimize site in Webflow, then:
- Click Optimizations in the Navigation panel
- Click the optimization
- Click Status > Paused to show paused variations
- Mouse over the paused variation
- Click the Options icon > Archive
