Optimize for non-Webflow sites

Install the Webflow Optimize assistant

Updated

This Chrome extension enables broader webpage support for the visual editor.

The Webflow Optimize assistant is a Google Chrome extension that enhances your browser with added functionality to support the visual editor. It allows you to seamlessly preview webpages and easily create variations for page elements.

What the extension enables

  • Iframe support — modifies certain browser requests to allow your site to be embedded in an iframe, which is essential for previewing pages in the visual editor that would otherwise be blocked
  • Snippet injection — for webpages that don’t already include the Optimize snippet, the assistant can dynamically inject it into the page (depending on account configuration)
  • Cookie handling — supports sites that rely on cookies or server-side sessions. During a visual editor session, the assistant adjusts cookie handling to ensure they remain visible to your site, which prevents session-related loading issues.

About the advanced mode option

The extension includes an optional “Advanced mode” toggle, which you won’t need to access during day-to-day use. It’s intended for rare cases when troubleshooting with our support team.

When enabled, the support team may ask you to access advanced mode to check your extension version number or disable some functionality for testing purposes.
